REVIEW: Terminator

"In a flourish city, [Black Leopard] and [Wild Eagle], the brothers, they control the city, robbed the citizens, citizens were suffered with their fierce painfully. In order to save people and beat the brothers, a Hero [Tiger], he come out, he fight against [Black Leopard] and [Wild eagle], he sneak into the enemy's group..."
One of the reasons we set up Obsolete Worlds was to review and provide information on games that simply received no coverage elsewhere. The GameKing has perhaps the most titles to cover on this quest given that, by our estimates, it has approximately 90 different titles to explore.
With so many games coming out for the handheld in such a short space of time, the reuse of certain key engines was inevitable. We've already chronicled how the likes of Cyclone Action and Spectask use the core engine of a game like Street Hero and manage to do new and interesting things with it.
Alas there are just as many GameKing titles that are happy to simply reskin an old game and call it something new. Sadly, Terminator is one of them, to the point where it might as well have been called: Street Hero: Guy.

Aside from a swishy new intro and a new musical score. This is exactly the same game as Street Hero. Most of the characters and backgrounds have been given a graphical re-modelling and at least resemble the inner city thugs they are supposed to be in this game (as opposed to the odd, melon headed beings of Street Hero) but other than that the game is identical from weapons, to enemy placement. Even the bosses are the same.
While Street Hero appeared as a solo release as well as on 4-in-1 Volume 8. Terminator was released only on Volume 16 making it a later release than the infinitely superior Spectask, which arrived on Volume 3!
This won't be the first lazy re-skin we encounter as we work our way through the GameKing's library. There's little more to be said about it than we already did in our review of Street Hero and tempted as we are to deduct a mark for plagiarism, the graphical overhaul does benefit it a little even if everything else stays exactly the same...much like this review score will have to.
Score 6/10
